Significant Enhancements to the T&U Team
Meet the New Members of Our Team
                              And Our Newest Shareholder
As the pursuit for talent in the accounting industry remains a challenge for many firms, the business and financial advisory firm of Tarpley & Underwood, PC announces significant additions in the shareholder, principal, and manager groups.  Strong and sustained growth over recent years has also called for the addition of a Chief Operating Officer position within the firm.

Tarpley & Underwood (T&U) is enhancing both its management team and its reputation in the Atlanta marketplace as the firm continues to grow.  Two highly experienced principals, Glenn Aldridge and Courtnay Bazemore, have been welcomed to the firm bringing with them specific expertise that further enhance both the audit and tax departments’ service offerings.  Preston Porterfield joins T&U as their newest tax manager.  T&U also promoted former tax director, Nicholas Perrins, to the shareholder group.  In order to coordinate the growing areas of marketing, human resources, and recruiting as well as streamline the daily operations, T&U has brought on board Dan Smith to serve as its new COO.

Joining the audit practice as a principal, Glenn Aldridge handles many client engagements working to ensure strict professional and internal standards are consistently surpassed.  Glenn’s extensive audit experience covers both private and public practice having been a partner with a large Atlanta firm and working with Egleston’s Children’s Healthcare System.  He is a graduate of Bob Jones University.

Clients of T&U’s tax practice will benefit from the many areas of expertise of Courtnay Bazemore as she combines her knowledge of complex income tax issues with advisory services concerning comprehensive financial and estate planning.  Courtnay advanced to senior tax manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP and most recently was a principal at another large Atlanta firm.  She graduated from The University of Georgia with her BBA in Accounting before going on to earn her Masters of Taxation from Georgia State University.

Preston Porterfield has worked with the international firms Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, and most recently with the Internal Revenue Service.  As a tax manager with T&U, Preston’s experience with the IRS strengthens T&U’s tax controversy practice and he offers expertise in FAS 109 analyses for privately and publicly held companies.  He completed both his BBA and Masters in Taxation degrees at Georgia State University.

The shareholder group of T&U welcomes Nicholas Perrins who has been a tax director with the firm after joining in 2002.  Nick is well respected for his technical abilities and spearheads much of the training for the firm as well as comprehensive legislative updates for firms throughout the Southeast.  Prior experience for Nick includes managing tax work at both Arthur Andersen and Deloitte.  He earned his BBA in Accounting at Eastern Michigan University.

T&U’s success has necessitated growing marketing, technological, human resource and recruiting functions as well as the increasingly complex daily operations.  To facilitate efficiency firm wide, T&U has added the position of COO and called upon Dan Smith.  Dan has over twenty years of operational experience; he has worked as vice president at CSS Medical and manager in the consulting practice at Deloitte.  He began his career with SunTrust Bank after graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in Finance.
